wab to ldif
conversion
One reader’s suggestion:
Just another suggestion for
your website. I found this method to be faster than your other suggestions.
I needed to convert from .wab to .ldif in order to upload an address
book to the e-mail server for the university I work at.
I simply downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird for free from mozilla.org.
During the install, it will automatically convert your Outlook Express
(and other) address books.
After install, simply open Thunderbird, click on the address book, then
tools, then export. It automatically saves the exported address book
as an .ldif file. This can be saved anywhere you like, uploaded later,
and converted to other formats.

MAC OS9 Netscape address
book copying
Netscape 7 users on Mac OS
9 need to simply search and drag their old .mab files into the folder
where NS automatically creates a new one. “mab” must stand for “main
address book;” additional address books are thrown into a “Recovered
Addresses” file.
These must be sorted from there
by creating new address books. Also, NS does not remember the names
of the previous address books.

Windows version only does addresses.
For converting to Exchange
and Outlook, go to: Converting Internet messages to
Exchange or Outlook
For converting address books
there appears to be a program called "Dawn" that will do this
too. Most major E-Mail programs, including Netscape, Outlook, Eudora,
Pegasus Mail and more are now supported directly: Dawn, the Address Manager

For even more information about
converting, see: ftp://ftp.demon.co.uk/pub/ibmpc/dos/apps/pmail/pmail-addons.txt
For Eudora mail folders
and all other Unix MBOX-compatible mail programs, like Netscape, Pine,
etc.: No conversion is necessary for Pegasus Mail for Windows version
3.0x and above.
Click on the Folders ->
Add Mailbox To List menu option and enter the path to the directory
where the Eudora *.mbx are located.
Enter a name for this mailbox
structure - don't use single- or double- quotes.
The Eudora mailboxes are added
in a new mailbox using the chosen name. For other MBOX-compatible mail
programs, you will have to first rename the mail folders so that they
use a .MBX filename extension.
Note: We don't recommend
using the MBOX mail folders within Pegasus Mail for regular mail storage.
The feature is primarily intended to allow you to quickly import/export
mail.

Note:There are problems
involved with moving files between Unix and DOS/Windows/Mac.
You can avoid these problems
by making sure that you FTP the file as an “ascii,” not a “binary"
transfer.”
For a more detailed discussion,
see General Info on Converting to Eudora
Format. It discusses
conversion to and from Eudora. The discussion holds for the other e-mail
programs that share the same format. Eudora maintains a FAQ
on the subject.
